I began my teaching career by substituting and volunteering at the local schools. I then completed my degree in Middle Grades Education in Social Science. When I began teaching, I taught Reading 3 of the 5 years I taught and fell in love with it. I am currently trying to complete my Reading Endorsement and follow up with a Reading Specialist degree. I am a firm believer that all students can learn if given the proper tools and learning experiences. I also taught driver's education to high school students while in grad school. After ten years working in law enforcement, I switched to social services and I have been mentoring children in foster care for the past twenty years.
