I am a senior mathematics education major at Bradley University. I have been tutoring both high school and college students for 6 years, and have had high successes in each level of math for many different students and learning abilities. From my experience of working the Math Lab at ICC, I have noticed that for some students, math is a rather difficult subject to them. Therefore, I always try to make sure my students understand everything I'm explaining and I always ask them for feedbacks so I know that they clearly understand everything. I always go over and review the materials I have taught/explained to the students so if there are any shady areas, I make sure I go over and expalin it again. I believe in taking a casual approach in tutoring. From previous experience, I have found that many times students understand the material but tend to get flustered in a classroom environment. I provide guidance when needed, but sometimes students just need someone there to talk it out with them. If this is the case I like to ask questions until they find the answers themselves.
