A Little Bit About Me...

I have been playing Classical piano since the age of seven, from their I moved onto other styles/forms piano playing such as Jazz, Modern, Orchestra, etc. Now I'm currently at Macomb community College for Jazz Improvisation, Music Theory, etc. And will transfer to Clark Atlanta University for Jazz Orchestra.
How I like students to learn different styles of music is by seeing where they are in the progression of piano playing then building on top of the knowledge obtain.It's many ways for someone too learn piano playing, but the student can never learn unless its hands on.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very student friendly. I engage the student in working out easy examples, which provide an illustration of fundamentals. Part of my process is to "walk through" an example with the student, showing them a process to solve a given problem. I then assign a problem for them to work out. This resembles a test-like environment where the student can figure out what he/she does not understand.
As a MSU graduate, I have experience in math up to linear algebra and abstract algebra. This includes calc 1,2, and 3 as well as differential equations. I also have taught at Michigan State University's Champ program, which is where I tutored algebra and geometry to advanced high school students. During college I spent a lot of time volunteering with youth. With a BA in psychology, I have learned to be very calm and patient when working with students. I spent 15 years overseas teaching English Conversation. However, I truly enjoy math. During my years of babysitting I assisted children with different homework. I also spent the summer of 2005 working with the Derek Coleman Hoops Festival in which I had to tutor in both math and reading.
I love love love teaching. While teaching I try to be energetic and fun. I try to learn and understand the children's learning style in order to teach them most effectively. I am most satisfied in my teaching when my children truly understand what has been taught. Each individaul reader is in need of the proper method to help with any difficulties that he or she is having. I would identify these problems and then find the most accurate way to reach that particular person. When teaching the reading I would use extra resources, such as drawings or poetry ro help the younger student to relate.
