Everyone learns in different ways so it's important to me that I get to know the students first. That way I can differentiate the lessons for each student. I have also learned that students are more engaged when it's a subject matter that they care about. Of course it's not realistic that this will always be the case. Sometimes you have to learn things that you are not interested in, but approaching these subjects from the way in which the student learns best, based on Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences, can make learning not only possible, but maybe even fun.

I will only be taking elementary kids as students!

I am currently enrolled in highschool but I tutored many of my cousins for the past several years so I'm great with young kids! Graduate student looking to help students achieve their goals!

I have tutored children off and on since I was in high school. More recently, my time has been spent volunteering with The Giving Tree, where I tutored inner-city children after school and helped organize activities (museums, zoo, etc.) on the weekends. I really like to teach but only topics I really believe in. I am not a good salesperson for the same reason, if I don't believe in something you can see right through me. I have seen too many adults and kids taught the steps to something, do "A" then do "B" then do "C". This is fine until it is required that we need to do A,B,F or B,A,C. Then this poor person is left with no other angle. I am very creative and resourceful teacher, if I can teach an understanding of what "A" does, why we do "A", and when to do "A", then when A,B,F is needed the person has skills to think their way through it.
