I specialized in poetry studying under one of the top T.S. Eliot scholars. As a literature major we studied a wide range of topics from early english to post colonial literature. This has given me a great appreciation of the english language. Having grown up abroad in Amsterdam and Switzerland has also made me enthusiastic about the barrier between conversational and written language.

As a parent, I teach in some way everyday. I have learned patience and the importance of repetition and positive feedback. I have taken math for 4 years in college. It is a subject that I very much enjoy-so much that all of my sons are also strong in mathematics. My oldest is a national merit scholar finalist, and my youngest son is captain of his high school math team. Math is fun, like a puzzle-once the student sees this fact, they begin having more fun and less fear of the subject.
I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication. I try to find the style of learning best suited to my pupil. Removing the fear of the subject seems to be the most important part.
