A Little Bit About Me...

My career has been in advertising, graphic design, and editing/ publishing. In recent years, I have substituted in area junior and high schools, and I have taught at a certificate-granting school (now a junior college) with an emphasis on English grammar and composition.
I most enjoyed teaching young adults and adults as they prepared for tangible competencies and careers. My teaching style is relaxed, but focused. I believe all children can be natural learners, especially when they find something that interests them. Patience is the key with children. Every child has their own pace and learning style. Some are very visual learners while others need to be able to be more hands-on. It is very rewarding helping someone succeed.
I am a former UConn graduate (1984) with a BS in Marketing. Many of my electives were in mathematics, enabling me to work as a student tutor on campus. I have also completed coursework in anatomy and physiology. In addition to tutoring college level students I have worked with elementary and middle school children in church youth groups, assisting with bible verse memorization and reading skills,as well as staging music productions.
