I believe every child learns differently, and that the presentation of information must vary on a constant basis. In order to keep attention of learners, new techniques and methods must be constatnly implemented to actively teach students. I feel that students learn best when they trust their instructor, and feel secure in there environment.
After college graduation in 2006, I subsitute taught for a year in Pennsylvania for a year before moving to Maryland to persue a permanent teaching career. I taught technology education in grades 6-8 before moving to West Virginia to start a family. My degree is in the field of technology education, but I also hold an additional certification in middle school math. I feel confident in my abilities to tutor math of all ages, as well as physics classes.

I truly love helping others especially when it comes to learning. Some students need that extra attention that they are not receiving in the classroom and I would love to be able to help them in anyway I can. I believe in repetition for effective learning and providing relevant examples that the student can relate to. I think it's so sad when students are left behind in the classroom and feel as they are not up to par as some of the other students. I have earned two bachelor degrees from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Computer Science. I received an A in every math class that I took including but not limited to statistics, linear algebra, multi-variable calculus, numerical analysis, and differential equations . I was also the Computer Science senior of the year in 2008. Most of my work experience is in computer science research, but I do have roughly a year of official experience tutoring in the computer lab and the math tutorial lab at WVU Institute of Technology. I enjoy working with all age groups. When working with older students I typically use a teaching style that involves asking the student a series of questions such that the student ends up answering their own question through deductive reasoning. I have found that a student utilizing this pedagogical method not only tends to more effectively remember the answers to the questions but understands the thought process that allowed them to arrive at those answers. I have also found that students are better able to pay attention for longer amounts of time with this active learning style as opposed to simply listening to a lecturer.
