I have spent most of my life in an academic environment. I thrive on success- not only my own, but also the success of others around me. I became a substitute teacher in order to gain experience as a classroom leader. Tutoring is a necessary duty of an educator. I have lead many training sessions dealing with a multitude of different topics. I do my homework, and make sure I am fully prepared before any training session. I want to make sure I know the answers to any possible question before the questions are asked. I have tutored students one-on-one and in small groups from different levels of math to every aspect of English, grammar, and writing. I have taught many classes in painting and drawing, and I am a constant student of all areas of art, including photography.

I have been writing for my whole life, and have a love of the art that is description. Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional.My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. No matter what form of writing you endeavor to do, getting your point across through description is paramount. I have placed and won poetry contests, and have written many essays of undergraduate and graduate levels.

At Birmingham-Southern College, I was the News Editor for the college newspaper for two years. In addition, I have a minor in Journalism. I love to write and I feel that this is one of my strong points. I also tutor two young girls every Wednesday afternoon at Girls, Inc. of Central Alabama. I help them with everything from writing, to reading, to math and history. I am also working on my Masters Degree and will graduate with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 2011.
Before I start tuoring a child, I like to get know them first. I think it's important to build trust with a child before jumping in and telling them what to do. A child will be more likely to accept help from someone they know rather than a total stanger. I like to make learning fun.
