A Little Bit About Me...

As a tutor, I will examine the student’s work process and correct them where they start to go wrong. One of the reasons I did so well in school was because I always checked my work. I can teach a student multiple ways to do the same problem, and then they can decide which way works best for them, and use the other ways to make sure they get the correct answer. I am patient, precise, friendly, and strongly driven to succeed.
During my time at the Rochester Institute of Technology, I was a student grader while working towards my B.S. in Computational Mathematics. Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. I believe that I can become a better teacher only by continually challenging myself and my students. The key phrase “engaging students” seems less than what is required in the classroom. I want my students to be engaged but I want them to encompass and enjoy what they are doing as well. I love technology and new method topics; I have a very strong math and science background as well as excellent written and verbal presentation skills. I was a hands on learner and often use hands on methods to teach when possible. I have taught every level from kindergarten to college level and feel comfortable doing so.
