There are five different learning styles that teachers teach and students learn. I try to include all five of these styles into teaching. Although everyone has their dominant learning style, I feel it is important for students to think outside of the box and try new things. Many of the things in life that we don't "get" are things we don't understand. When teaching, I try to break things down and simplify them so they can be easily understood. Often the kids in my class are those who do not like to be challenged, so I incorporate a lot of questions to provoke thinking and problem solving on their own. Since repetition is a key component to learning, I review a lot which requires patience but pays great dividends in the long run. I try to keep things fresh and fun by adding a lot of variety, and also like to motivate with real-world examples so students can see a practicle use for what they are learning.

I am a NBCT with 38 years experience teaching in the Bay District School System. I hold bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a masters in Reading. My Florida teaching certificate is in Elementary Education 1-6 and Reading k-12. I have tutored with SES program in Bay County for the past three years in both reading and math for elementary age students.
