I have always enjoyed working with young people. I take the time needed to assess each student's learning styles and I am well versed in what works for students of each type (visual, oral, kinesthetic and their subcategories). I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself. When I try to teach someone, I always explain to them the subject as basic and simple as possible. I give a few examples, and then help them figure it out themselves. When/ if they struggle, I will be there to help set them back on track.
I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. In addition to academics, my students and I focus a lot on being good citizens, and having open/honest communication. I try to foster an environment that instills respect and understanding.
