A Little Bit About Me...

To whom it may concern, I have taught as a classroom teacher, a Title I teacher, and as a special education teacher. All of these experiences have given me skills I use as a teacher. I have a love of books and enjoy sharing them with children. I have always enjoyed working with children. I enjoy watching their faces when the lesson I am teaching suddenly makes sense to them! I am a strong believer in communicating with parents and working with them to best meet the needs of their children. I took a graduate course called Maine Literacy Partner: Good First Teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with students who were given up on years before, but once the met me, they evolved and became what so many said they never would become, educated.Vgotsky talked about the zone of proximal development and potential. I believe I teach to reach the highest level of potential and often come very close. I am a fantastic Highly Qualified Educator who gives all I have and then finds where to get more when I run out of ideas.
The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. I have always tutored friends and peers in mathematics. I spent the last year helping one of my good friends learn calculus and have volunteered as a tutor at Falmouth High School in Falmouth, Maine in order to help students learn algebra. The link that led me to this application described a position as an algebra tutor, something I would be very willing to do part-time.
I am a college student who has taken calculus, calculus II, and multi-variable calculus.
