A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Education. I student taught at Central High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota from January to May of 2018 and I have years of experience working with upper aged students from my work with the Boy Scouts of America and the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board.
I prefer to use current real world content as a way to demonstrate historical ideas in an easier context to understand. I believe that students benefit more from this type of instruction because it can put difficult concepts in a way that is easier to relate to.

I began teaching at a very young age. I began my own music lesson company which taught basic level of piano, guitar, saxophone and voice lessons out of my house before I began high school. After achieving my certificate of proficiency in Spanish from Hamline I then began to also privately tutor Spanish. I also have earned my TEFL/TESOL certificate and will eventually go abroad and teach English overseas.
I have worked mainly with children, but enjoy teaching all ages. I tend to take a systematic approach and keep my lessons structured. I have taught English literature as a substitute in junior and senior high schools, college level German, linguistics, English reading and writing and English as a Second language. I have taught and tutored children and adult learners. My teaching experience has been in Germany, California and Minnesota. I also tutored ACT/SAT in Minnesota.
I enjoy teaching students of all ages, individually or in groups. I find the Socratic method most useful, and with children this translates into making the subject (i.e. German grammar) seem like a puzzle that, with some effort, can be solved.
