I believe that each child has their own special style of learning in which they succeed the best at. When I tutor students I take the time to get to know each student on an individual basis and as a unique person. I make it a priority to determine their learning style and use that to implement a plan. I try and understand the reason they are having problems in their studies and then execute a plan in which they can succeed. To this end, I always give a few minutes of each lesson to personal contact, and chat with them a little about what is happening in their lives. I also encourage laughter and light-heartedness. I stress that it is OK to make mistakes. If they are having trouble grasping a concept I tell them it is because I have not explained it correctly and ask them to bear with me until I get it right.
