I like to make a formal or informal assessment of a student's abilities during the first meeting. I design my lessons to remediate weaknesses and build on strengths. My main goal is to have students feel comfortable with me so they can do their very best.
I am a recently retired Special Ed. Teacher who specializes in Reading and Writing, especially for deaf or dyslexic students. I have tutored throughout my public and private school career, usually working with former students. In 2019 I received my Masters from GCU, where I took courses focused on special education: social and emotional learning, technology, and diversity inclusion in the classroom. After taking Morphology Awareness with IMSE, I became a part of the FDU/Orton-Gillingham Scotch Plains cohort to become a Dyslexia Specialist.
