Fun yet educational. Statement of Teaching Philosophy for Teaching Writing
I think that teaching writing should be both fun and educational. If you do not have the fun aspect in it you can lose students and not reach others. I believe it is important to be a positive model for my students. I want my students to know that what they write can be perfected and publishable. I want them to know that they never have to feel as if they are not good enough even if they do not know exactly how to get the words they want to say out. All it takes is practice. Even using a voice recorder to record your thoughts and getting feedback on those thoughts can make writing the best it can be.
I, personally, have never taught a class. I was, however, a Teacher’s Aide at a school for special needs kids. I have also worked at a daycare where I was in charge of writing lesson plans every week. In both j

Sara J. - Fayetteville, PA 17201 (36.6 mi) - Tutor - $52.50/hr.
I believe I have the skills set and passion needed to successfully tutor a variety of students. I have a Specialist degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and I am a certified teacher with a master’s in Special Education. I currently teach adults studying for their
GED. I also taught a self-contained, city-wide program in the District of Columbia Public School system for four years for students with multiple disabilities. Both settings have made me very familiar with all of the core subjects, including Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. Teaching GED classes has enabled me to understand the importance of integrating writing into all subjects. I also help students with study skills, organizational skills, and test-taking skills.
In addition to teaching in DCPS, I have also managed the academic and behavioral needs of secondary students with moderate to severe autism

After 8 years teaching elementary music in the Southern York School District I taught piano, organ, and flute lessons from my home studio. I was choir director and organist at Church of the Cross, Carlisle. Also, it was my responsibility to plan music for the services. I planned a variety of music for worship, organ pieces, piano pieces, or organ/piano duets. I love to teach but primarily, I am a hands on teacher. Through my experience, I have learned the importance of reaching all types of learners. I identify my learners right from the beginning and understand if they are visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners. Based on my findings, I combine different teaching strategies. Many students struggle with a different language because they often compare it to their primary language. I try to make students understand that it is a language all on its own and we must not compare or judge, but embrace it and do the best we can to understand it and the cultures that come with it. I do my best to make the classroom environment safe and fun so students love coming each and everyday. Growing up as a bilingual child I spoke Portuguese and English at home. In 4th grade I had exchange students from Spain who lived in my home and I was beginning to le
