When I was in high school I had a lot of anxiety about math. I went back to college late in life and I was terrified that I would have to take a few math courses to graduate. It wasn't long before math was my favorite class and I changed my major. When I was in school I helped a lot of my classmates with calculus. After I graduated I got a job as a tutor working with high school students on preparation for college entrance exams and mathematics. I found that to be very rewarding.

Science, especially biology and chemistry, has always intrigued me. Since I was a child, I had always known that I wanted to study biology. I received a BA in Biology in May 2006 from CU. I graduated this spring with honors from Carleton College. For my senior thesis in Math, three of my colleagues and I designed a Challenge Math curriculum for fifth grade students. Together we compiled our lessons into a book, and once a week each we taught a small group of students. When I moved to Boulder this summer, I began tutoring CU students, adults taking online courses, and high school students. I also have experience tutoring for the SAT, ACT, and GRE.
My teaching style depends on the student. Some students need me to explain the subject material to them rather than read it from the book, while other students benefit most if they work through a problem and then ask me a question when they get stuck.
