From the beginning we must let the students know what expectations we have so that they can prepare themselves for the upcoming tasks at hand. I also believe that you must have some flexibility in teaching in understanding that some topics may take longer to cover than initially expected. I have also found from my experience that when teaching or tutoring it is best to look at the student's past work and grades to see where there are problem areas. I am patient and like to review to make sure the foundation is strong in the subject area we are working on before we begin more advanced topics.
As an undergraduate I worked for the university learning center and the educational opportunity program. I worked one summer as a counselor helping 8-10 year-olds. Other than that, I mostly have experience teaching/tutoring high school and college-students.
By the Grace of G-d I studied biological & environmental engineering at Cornell University. This entailed taking courses in engineering principles, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and liberal studies. I graduated Magna Cum Laude.

My commitment to tutoring as community service started in High School and continued through my years as an undergraduate at Earlham College.
