A Little Bit About Me...

I value certain aspects of teaching methodology not necessarily emphasized in previous generations. I view teaching as a highly dynamic process. In regards to my own views of teaching, I think learning must be interesting and fun. A teacher will not only be a guide on the path to a better understanding of difficult concepts, he will also be a motivator to stimulate open minds. Finally, I believe that knowledge is a right for all. As a teacher, I will be on the front line accomplishing what I feel society needs most: a more educated workforce and students more prepared for their professional careers

During college I spent a lot of time volunteering with youth. With a BA in psychology, I have learned to be very calm and patient when working with students. I spent 15 years overseas teaching English Conversation. However, I truly enjoy math. During my years of babysitting I assisted children with different homework. I also spent the summer of 2005 working with the Derek Coleman Hoops Festival in which I had to tutor in both math and reading.
I love love love teaching. While teaching I try to be energetic and fun. I try to learn and understand the children's learning style in order to teach them most effectively. I am most satisfied in my teaching when my children truly understand what has been taught. Whether using candy or sports, I think everyone can learn what they need to know by relating it to something they already love.

Thomas Edison said, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. I am extremely persistant. Whatever it takes to get someone to understand a concept I will strive to discover it. Most of all the process of learning should be kept exciting so that the pupil is left yearning for the next lesson.
I went to public schools in East Detroit, Michigan. In eighth grade I set a personal goal to attend the University of Michigan. I never had private tutors. My strongest subject is math. Mr Learmont, my junior high school history teacher would frequently say, "Take care of these books and these books will take care of you." It was that inspiration that raised me to love learning and in turn teaching others.

As a graduate of Tennessee State University, I've been very driven to consistently purse excellence education.
