I have dedicated the majority of my adult life to reaching and teaching others so that they may reach their potential. For the past thirty years, I have taught Sunday school, youth groups, theatre students, women's groups and most recently high school students in the Dakota Valley School District. I have a Master's degree in Secondary Education, certifications to teach Literature, German, English, Speech, Theatre, and middle school. I have also won many awards(South Dakota Teacher of the Year, Staff of the month (x5), a fellowship in Journalism, Who's Who among high school teachers, and a local VFW award for teaching citizenship in the schools). I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. At times, I understand that it requires patience to work with children, but if you are able to do that then chances of success are much more likely. I believe that everything we teach to these children will be needed sooner or later in life, and that the understanding of this knowledge will further improve their lives. Rewarding a student for their efforts in trying to understand the material is my game plan. I want them to feel accomplished and satisfied for their hard work. I was valedictorian of my high school class. I was also good in sports and music. I went to college at Iowa State University and finished at the University of South Dakota with a major in communication disorders and a minor in psychology. I have a strong training background. I have held jobs in which I was a manager, which required me to train staff. I also taught computer classes (Microsoft, Internet, Basic PC) at Western Iowa Tech for a few years. I earned A's throughout my high school career; and I excelled in college in math, science and English, though I would no longer be comfortable teaching high-level science.
