While an undergraduate at Maryland I tutored students and helped my friends in chemistry and math. When I went to Graduate School I taught lab and two discussion sections, making sure the students understood the lecture material from the Professor. I have knowledge in general chemistry as well as extensive knowledge of Organic Chemistry. I tutored my daughter by helping her understand the underlying reasons for a reaction vs. just memorizing a huge list of organic reactions.
My style is to focus on the reason for a reaction so you can extrapolate what will happen with materials your have not seen before. This was the technique used when I took graduate level organic courses at Maryland.

I eventually obtained my BS from the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome, in 1994. I have excellent communication, writing, and problem solving skills. The credit requirement for my degree was 146 credits, which is a little bit more than the average. I received my first tutoring credential in the early 1970's specializing in prep-school placement tests, college-board prep etc. While attending Grad-School (Temple University) in the mid-70's; I worked as a substitute teacher in the Arch-Diocese of Phila. on a high-school level, primarily instructing History. At seventeen I completed the Evelyn Wood speed reading course, not that that is directly relevant to my teaching style. During the past 20 yrs. As a graduate of Wellesley College, I continaully strived to do achieve a high level of excellence. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn't get a teaching certification while I was in college. It is a profession which I would truly love. As the mother of two children, one of schoolage, I realize now that it would have been a great life choice for me.
