For as long as I can remember, I have been a natural teacher. My children say that I can never take them on an outing without making a "school" trip out of it. I love learning, and desire to share that excitement with others, to see them become life-long learners. I believe that all children can learn, although in different ways. Individualized learning and small group learning is what I enjoy most. I'm patient and work well with children. I'm good at seeing where a student's need is, and then adapting the teaching level and style to match so that he/she can achieve, and be encouraged to move forward. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching young people and seeing them succeed is such a reward. Many students find the conventional school setting difficult and work with greater success in a one on one setting. Getting to know the student and his or her learning style along with some background enables a tutor to create an atmosphere where the student will be most successful. The student can feel comfortable asking questions, which is not always the case in a traditional classroom. My goal as a tutor is to have a student comfortable and successful!
After receiving a degree in Sociology from a New York State University, I went on to earn a provisional teaching certificate in Biology. I believe that all children can be successful learners. The key is to find the method of teaching that works best for each child. Some children can read something and understand the information perfectly. Others need to have the information read to them and then explained in greater detail. Still others learn best when they are allowed to have hands-on experiences or when the information to be learned is equated to his or her own life. It is important to find the style or styles that work best for each child and then tailor the learning to that style-the child’s learning style is the most important factor.
