I have been interested in tutoring and mentoring elementary students since I was a senior in high school. My college experience includes coaching junior high kids, tutoring 1st through 8th grade students in math and reading, and observing veteran teachers. My years at Michigan State University taught me a lot about planning and curriculum, as well as the importance of hard work. Michigan State required every student to complete a year of student teaching. After I completed the year of student teaching, I took a 5th grade teaching position in Gaston county where I taught for 2 years. Following that, I held a variety of positions in education including teaching in pre-schools and tutoring centers. Additionally, I have 2 years experience as a substitute teacher in a variety of subjects. I also home-schooled my own children for 5 years.
