A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.

I truly enjoy working with all students. My past experiences of interacting with children has shown me all children have the ability to learn, but learn at different paces and in different ways. I believe in finding out what learning method works best for each individual student and build from there. I am patient, understanding, and have a strong willingness to help others. I believe effort goes a long way. As long as there is effort on behalf of the student, as well as from the tutor, success can be achieved. My goal is to make simple improvements in small steps to obtain that sense of accomplishment and confidence for the student.
