As a graduate of a sound Liberal Arts College, I've learned that the greatest asset I took away with me was the art of communication. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Creative Writing and Spanish. I have written essays upon essays, from creative short-stories to my fifty-page senior thesis, and would love to continue working in a position which allows me to use my hard-earned tools. I would be able to instruct children with the basics and also explain how these basic concepts are used and why they are important in a real environment. My goal would be to get my students excited about their future and impress upon them that they can achieve anything they desire with hard work. I have had an extensive career in business. I have had a number of accounting/finance positions in the business world. My most successful position was with a chain of 30 Hallmark stores. I started as the accountant and eventually became the President of the company. I have had other positions as Controller and Accountants of other businesses.

I love to teach and to see the students actually understanding the concept and putting the context into action. I try to teach the big picture first - if the student understands why they need the subject and how it will benefit them in their future, it makes the learning relevant. I am personable and down to earth, making examples at the students level. I try to keep the learning real. While in high school, I was a certified adult literacy tutor. Since I've had children, I have been an active volunteer in their classes - preschool through elementary school. I hold a BS from PSU in Finance with a minor in Economics. I earned my MBA while working full time in less than 2 years. In my last position, I was the training team lead for IT and policy for the Department of the Navy's financial card program.
