I have been trained by some of the most demanding professors in the U.S., including Dr. Susan Willis, dramaturg of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. One of my essays, "Strands of Transcendentalism in Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass" has been published. I taught English (grades 7-12) for twenty-five years and retired in 2001. I would say my teaching style is more relaxed. I believe this helps one see students weaknesses and strengths better. It also allows one to compare the overall effect of teaching for each student. When I see a student falling behind then thats when I take action and try top get them where they should be in that area.
My experience is one that has taken me many different places to meet many diffrent people. I have always had a gift of helping others and conveying to them my knowledge. My teaching style is based on my belief that my purpose is that the student learn the material. If that means backtracking and presenting the material in a different manner or using more examples then that is what I will do. Especially in math and accounting, the building blocks must be solid in order to advance so I do concentrate on each step being strong.
