I have a vety high IQ, but am also very accessible.

I engage the student with questions and illustrations. I am big on gentle correction and encouragement. I know the difference between Latinized English and real English, and I share this with my students. I know grammar is something one can't prescribe, just describe.
I have tutored off and on since high school, and have been a substitute teacher for all grades for the last six years. I excel at spelling and grammar, and had a classical education in literature, Latin and Greek. Because of this classical education, I have been able to teach in-depth,and to share the etymology of many English words with students and teachers alike. I graduated from college one year early, having tested out of all my general studies, which freed me to take independent studies classes, such as in Chaucer and Middle English.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have only been teaching in a classroom setting for the last two semesters, I have spent a great deal of time teaching friends and fellow students over the years. I am very patient and able to adapt to the student with whom I am working. I am a firm believer that learning, and learning math especially, is not a spectator sport and that a great deal of practice is required to fully understand most material.
