Spanish is one of my top subjects! I am fluent in Spanish, lived in Spain, and taught HS Spanish in Germany. I presently teach GED [all the subjects] in the Spanish language.

I try to engage my student, to tease the learning out of him or her. I have learned to explain, to give the information then to step back, allowing my student to think through to the conclusion. This involves silence sometimes, and the student talking more while I talk less, something not so easy for a teacher of Italian descent. Experiences has shown, however, that it often works.

I received my B.A. in humanities with a minor in Spanish from Buffalo State College in 2009. I studied English, Philosophy and Spanish mostly. I have a lot of experience in writing, critical analysis of literature and basic Spanish. I also hold a TESOL certification from Oxford Seminars. A TESOL certification is an international certification which certifies you to teach English as a second or other language. I have over a year in experience teaching ESL both here in the United States and in South America. I believe I have a good understanding of the technicalities of the English Language and would be ideal for a student struggling with grammar and writing.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am a native Spanish speaker. I have a Spanish law degree and completed a Masters in Law in English. I have exceptional reading and writing skills in both languages and am able to guide non-native Spanish speakers through both colloquial and formal versions of the language.

I have always focused on building skills and never losing perspective on my goals. During my junior year of undergraduate work, I was contacted by a professor and asked to become an English tutor intern for my fellow students and visiting exchange students from Aichi, Japan. I was told that this hands-on tutoring would also coincide with an upper level English class, a class in which permission of its instructor, the English department and recommendations from other professors were all required.
