A Little Bit About Me...

To be clear up front I am not a teacher. However, I have acquired valuable skills working as a highschool paraprofessional for almost eight years. I spent the majority of my days in math classes and science classes helping students and learning the subject right along with them. I also spent an hour or two every day in study hall to help students with homework (math, science, english, social studies) Aside from the practical knowledge I gained in each classroom I was able to find new and different ways over the years to help individual students with very individual needs.
Part of the advantage I have as a math tutor in particular is the fact that I failed math miserably in highschool myself. A Little Bit About Me...

I have many and varied experiences in teaching music in the public schools and privately for over 30 years. I have my bachelors degree in music education-k-12 and I have almost finished my Master's degree in Music Education. My teaching experience includes classroom, vocal-choral, piano and band. During my years teaching in the public school system, I volunteered often for after-school activities organized in order to tutor the students in math, science, english, etc. I have also been a substitute teacher and have experience teaching several subjects which also included special education and emotional behavioral disabled children. During my sophomore year in high school I decided to begin tutoring ESL students. I found the ability to help others succeed very rewarding, and began tutoring fellow classmates in courses including but not limited to English, math, biology, and chemistry. These sometimes difficult subject always made sense to me and I enjoyed watching as the students I tutored were successful. I have in that time earned a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Florida State University. With this degree I have had extensive exposure and to and learned many different areas in the math and science fields.
