A Little Bit About Me...

After receiving my college education I taught my own visual art curriculum in Western Illinois for two years. Here I worked with Elementary students and High School Students. My second favorite subject is Math. I have had the chance to tutor and assist student in Nebraska with my Para position at Northwest. I have also been given a tutoring group, which meets three days of the school week. Here I have been able to use my skills in the arts and my skills in math to help students who are struggling. While being a Para it was my job description to assist students with special needs on their homework.
I would say my teaching style is very thorough and repetitive. Repetition is what truly sticks information into student’s minds, despite its annoying tendencies. I have taught virtually every subject at every level (K-12) over the course of 25 yrs. It has been my conviction to provide every student with the best education possible, regardless of the subject; thus, I have taken numerous post-graduate courses, and I possess a personal library of approximately 4,000 books. I am particularly interested in and concerned about teaching students to read. I have read extensively and done some successful tutoring in this area.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe one must be very creative when teaching children because not all children learn the same way and accel at the same rate. I love working with children of all ages. I am organized, patient, and understanding. I realize that in order for a student to grasp a concept they must have the right environment and teaching approach suited for them, and I am willing to be flexible with these ideas.
