My teaching style becomes the student's learning style, unique with each different student. I have attended three years of training with the Learning Success Institute of California, which specializes in a learning styles philosophy designed for every student, but most particularly for those who struggle in various skill areas and who have been labeled with various learning disabilities. Using this philosophy, I try to help each student know their own unique learning style, thereby giving them a key to unlock some doors that may not have been opened before. I tutor with the belief that patience and encouragement are very important for the discouraged learner - recognizing both their successes and challenges. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with struggling learners. I believe that using brain research and knowing learning styles enables me to support students in differential instructions. I believe that not all students are alike and and instruction should not be one size fits all. I want to make students life long learners and build a strong foundation from learning.
I have a bachelor degrees in elementary education and a master in special education, which allows me the ability to with students struggling in the areas of reading and math. I am able to collect data and progress monitor progress. I have learned to build on students learning styles and to promote differential learning. During the last three years I have worked one on one with students to increase their functional reading and math skills.

A Little Bit About Me...

My tutoring experience includes helping my peers at the University of Wyoming and duties of training petty officer in the US Navy. At UW, I tutored physics, math, and basic engineering. While getting my BS in Mechanical Engineering, I gained an extensive knowledge of the principles and practice of mathematics. I was the training petty officer both at boot camp and on my ship, FFG43. I was responsible creating lessons and giving training that resulted in improved job knowledge and increased qualifications for members of my division.
I love seeing children learn and grow. My teaching style is a whole, part, whole approach. I teach the abstract concept and then the practical application.
