I am an experienced classroom teacher and have been involved in education since I was 18 years old. I have worked supervising general chemistry teaching labs as well as an organic chemistry TA. I followed this experience by gaining my general education certification through the STEM program at UNM. This involved a year of teaching as an intern at a local middle school. Following this I have spent the last two years teaching Integrated Science, Chemistry and Physics all at the high school level. I have also been occupying myself with obtaining Master's Degrees in Special and General Education.

I believe that people learn the best when they understand the meaning and logic behind what they are learning. Science is one of my top subjects! Science is the best thing I have ever experienced or taught. I have been the Science Olympiad Director for my state and have judged so many science fairs that I get scared of three fold backboards. I have a Pangaea-sized science background, and I really like to share it.

Teaching middle school and high school science from 1983 to 2004, including every science subject listed in the TutorSelect list. I have worked as an educational consultant for national science laboratories, helping them train their scientists to work better in the school classrooms where they volunteer. I have worked for museums and for outdoor education programs, but have found the most satisfaction as a classroom teacher with all kinds of students. I helped teach three courses organized in this manner: “Earthquakes, Volcanoes & Other Hazards,” at Princeton, and “The Solid Earth,” and “Geological Excursion: Death Valley,” both at Columbia.
