A Little Bit About Me...

The style of teaching that I use is experience. I believe that people learn best when they work through and actually practice the issues. For example, in mathematics I believe it is very important to practice math problems. Not to memorize the answers but the memorize the formula for working through a problem. When they are working through the problems I try and answer any questions that they may have, so that they develop speed and accuracy, that way when a test comes they are fully equipped with the skills they need to get a good grade in a relatively quick manor.

I began tutoring when I was in high school and enjoyed it immensely. When I got to college, I became a German teaching assistant. My favorite part was office hours. I love working with students individually. I earned a bachelor’s degree in German and Linguistics; I also took 16 credits each of biology and chemistry. After earning a bachelor degree in Mathematics/Statistics I entered graduate school with the intention of going into the Computer Science field. Teaching undergraduates, as a teaching assistant, I uncovered my desire to help and teach. She was witty and smart. I remember sitting on the edge of my seat, clenched tight, simultaneously intrigued and terrified.
