Let's do this... TOGETHER!

I am a very interactive teacher. I want feedback so I can see the progress the student is making. If they are not getting something, I make adjustments and change tactics. I teach tot he student(s). Everyone learns differently. And sometimes by the time I get to them student, it has nothing to do with their ability but more their confidence because of previously bad experiences. Then its more just showing the student he or she can accomplish this. And I aim do have fun while we do it!

I base my teaching on Vygotsky's theory of the Zone of Proximal Development. This theory states that a student can reach a higher level of learning through following the adult's model/example. As the student learns higher level skills, adult guidance is slowly phased out in order to achieve independent functioning. I work with each student's unique abilities and strengths in order to maximize their potential. After twenty years in the financial area I went back to school to obtain a special education credential and found a passion for teaching. While in school I worked as a teacher's aide at Seaside High School, and taught 5th grade summer school for two years. After completing my education course work I received a contract with Monterey Peninsula Unified School District and taught at Los Arboles Middle School.
