I knew I always wanted to work with children and I have loved all of my teaching experiences. I pushed myself to get a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education from Duquesne University. Out of college I had a few long-term sub positions in area school districts before getting a full time teaching position at Charters Valley School District. At Charters Valley I taught eighth grade learning support for 4 years before transferring to be third grade classroom teacher for 2 years. My learning support classroom had a range of disabilities from reading difficulty to autism. Being in college for four years exposed me to social environments that I normally wouldn't have been able to encounter on a day to day basis. Whether I was learning on my own, working with or helping fellow classmates, or even just observing how the professors worked with us, I was always learing new concepts or methods of how to interact with a wide variety of characteristics in a diverse group of people.
