A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that in order to be an outstanding teacher one must exhibit a plethora of skills. For instance one must be able to multi-task and integrate many different occupations into the incredible job of being a teacher. You must be a police officer in that you have to be able to diffuse arguments if they arise (and they will). You must be a doctor, in that you must be able to apply bandages to minor injuries that can result from accidents during recess. You must be a judge, meaning that as a teacher one must always be as fair and just as possible. You must be a referee, if you decide to use education games into to enhance lessons, you as the teacher or in this case the referee must be able to run the game. You must be an interpreter; a teacher should always be clear and precise in giving directions, rules, and procedures.

When a question is asked, I am not going to simply just tell the student the answer. I would want them to think it out and try and figure it out for themselves. I would however guide them in the right direction and even ask them other questions they may know in order for them to figure out the intial problem. I feel that these types of interactions are a more effective way of learning. Also, writing things down helps tremedously because not only are you thinking it, but you're seeing it and reading it as well. I am a very easy person to get along with, and I am also very encouraging. I enjoy helping others whether it's in an academic environment or not.

I believe that all students can learn. I think that one of the cornerstones of my teaching style is having high expectations for my students. Though each student has different skills and abilities, most can be engaged to use the skills he or she brings to learn if the student knows that his or her teacher believes he or she can learn and if that teacher presents the content in an interesting way. I believe in using humor and real-life examples to help students see why what we're learning relates to their lives. I want all of my students to come away from my classes with new ideas, skills and enthusiasm for learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted to be a teacher, I couldn't really see myself doing anything else. I try to make learning and inclusive experience for all children. I feel that sometimes children's different learning styles get overlooked and then as a community we have a child that is left feeling that they are unworthy. My goal is to help all children learn at their pace and at their skill level, not at some standard set by the state. I want the children I spend time with to feel good about their learning experience and to enjoy themselves.
As a full time student and a full time employee of the General Electric Company I did not have the time to goof around. I had to be driven and utilize my time to accomplsh the most amount in the least amount of time. Therefore I have been able to use my experience to help students learn quickly and easily. I have an innate instinct to teach and a drive that brings me great satisfaction from teaching. In working with children from preschool age through high school, I have come to recognize the uniqueness of each age group but have developed no preference as I enjoy working with all children. I have found that I have been able to meet the needs of the most challenging students both academically and behaviorally in a wide variety of environments. From all of my vast experiences I have found that I can teach anyone, anytime, anywhere and they will learn no matter what challenges are present. Every child can learn and every child can succeed; it takes a special person to see the strengths of each child and build upon them.

I believe that every student can successfully learn different subjects if the material is presented to them in a way they can understand. Students vary in how they learn; some learn from reading and others from visuals. I will help to identify which style works best for the student and then tutor them using that style. Another strength of mine is my ability to take complex material and teach it in a way that makes the material easy to understand by simplifying the concepts. I thrive on seeing my students succeed.

After assessing the individual's current knowledge of a particular subject matter, a review of the topic's basic rules would follow. The next procedure would involve passage reading and comprehension followed by implementation by putting "pen to paper". As with all cases of subject matter retention, repetition is the key to memory, closely accompanied by an understanding of the material and need for the application of the writing rules for student advancement.
