A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently in my final semester at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in the Secondary English Education program. I am a full-time student teacher at Milwaukee High School of the Arts in the Milwaukee Public School system; I teach English 9 and British Authors (10th grade English). I was a part-time student teacher last fall at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts, and taught 7th grade English. I was a tutor and mentor for UWM's GEAR UP program and worked with high schoolers in all subjects, especially math and English. I play piano, read, write, and blog daily, and love to teach and learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently the Literacy Coach at Starms Discovery Learning Center, where I conduct literacy workshops for the staff members. I also collaborate with the administrative team to develop the school wide literacy curriculum. In order to enhance my expertise, I have enrolled in Capella University’s Adult Education PhD Program. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a foreign language teacher and tutor for 25 years (including English, reading and writing). I have taught all levels, all ages, mostly French (my mother tongue), German (my second mother tongue) Hebrew and English. I taught in private schools - 3rd to 12th grades - and in the public sector too: middle and high schools. I took teen-agers abroad, to Europe, (I was their only chaperonne) to supplement what we learned in class. I also tutor adults and children, mostly in languages. A Little Bit About Me...

After having raised 4 children, I know that each child has a different learning style. One may be very able to understand abstract thoughts and teaching styles while the other may not. Therefore, tutoring must be done on a very individual basis. I believe it is the teacher's responsibility to listen and observe each child so that the appropriate teaching style can be effectively used for each child in an effective and relaxed manner.
