I graduated with honors from Eastern Washington University and began teaching in the public school in Newport. During the three years with that school district, I tutored during the summers, usually in reading and writing, though I have tutored math, history, and science as well. While teaching my children at home for the next 18 years, I have tutored many ages in writing, and currently teach and tutor at the Deer Park Homelink program, where I have been for the past eight years.
Teaching children of all ages is my passion. A Little Bit About Me...

I started my college career at Drake University as a Mass Comunications major. I changed schools and recieved a double major in Business and Economics. I have 3 kids 15,11,10 and have helped them extensively, and all are excellerated students. I enjoy helping kids understand their subjects and obtaining the power to master their learning potential.
I enjoy working with children, and believe that all kids have the ability to achieve anything. As long as their mentors can give them an extra boost to understand certain concepts their ability to accomplish their projects and earn exceptional grades are endless. My teaching style is to guide them through the learning process and to make sure they have a firm grip on their subjects when we complete our tutorial.

My approach to teaching is comprehensive and challenging. I believe in getting to know the strengths and weaknesses of my students and customizing the curriculum for optimum growth. My approach is to empower the students to achieve by teaching them the steps to attacking a challenge and working them trough it. Then I believe students have the support and stamina to increase the rigor of their curriculum. Once they realize how much they can achieve and that they have the tools and support, they are much more likely to take on the challenges set before them.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Whitworth University's teacher certification program. Since then I have successfully substitute taught in three school districts in the K-12 arena. As an individual with business field experience and a bachelor degree, I have gained a wide array of experience. I have written all forms of papers, documents, and instructions as well as designed statistics, and testing methods. Statistics, Business Acumen, Organization, and a wide range of computer software are my primary skills.
In addition to my education and work experience, my teaching style derives primarily from my experience as a High School football coach. Coaching at all levels from middle school to high school has given mea unique perspective on seeing how different students learn and comprehend things.
