A Little Bit About Me...

I currently work in a PreK-12 School setting as a Certified School Library Media Specialist. I am responsible for teaching Prek-6th grade library/research lessons. When I am not teaching I am monitoring 7-12 students who are utilizing the library media cnter. I manage two library spaces, am the primary purchaser for books, technologies, and databases, and work closely with the administration team to meet and exceed curricular goals. Previously I worked in a K-6 setting with similar responsibilities. While working with on my Masters degree I substitute taught in several of the area school districts. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very well rounded. Meaning I utilize a vast array of tools, high tech to low tech. From smart boards (promethean), webquests via the internet, to old fashioned poster board in a cooperative learning atmosphere. At Harrisburg in the urban environment, I learned to utilize many styles due to low resources and a diverse student population where I had to appeal to a diverse group of learners. I feel it is important to understand what is different and unique about every student. Not all students will learn in the same way, nor will they find their desire to learn in the same way. I feel it is my duty as a teacher to find what these ways are for every student. Differentiation is vital to the learning process and can only be executed effectively if you know your students.
