My personal style of learning is to learn by doing. I get my students involved in any process and get them to actually do the work so they learn it from experience, not just reading about it and taking for granted they know what is going on. Seeing the steps in action and seeing the final result brings a sense of accomplishment, which helps a student learn the correct way of doing whatever it is they are trying to learn.

I graduated Athens State University in 2005 with a BS in Elementary Education (K-6). After graduation, I became a substitute teacher for six months. In 2006 I was hired on by Decatur City Schools. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade for Decatur City Schools. I am currently employed with Decatur City Schools as an aide. I have also tutored children at The Dyslexia Clinic in Decatur. I have worked with children ranging in ages 4 years old to 18 years of age.

The best way to describe my teaching style is flexible. I don't limit myself to one style because I've never taught one type of child. Students are diverse and as a teacher my style of teaching must also be diverse. I believe in modeling and hands-on learning experiences. Students need to see new concepts worked through correctly.
