A Little Bit About Me...

I will graduate this summer with a doctorate of arts in Mathematics. I have taught a total of 14 undergraduate-level mathematics courses in a broad range of subject ranging from developmental math to linear algebra. As an undergraduate, I worked part time in the Idaho State University tutoring center tutoring mathematics up to the calculus 3 level.
I am a very energetic and interactive teacher. I am quite patient with my students and try to use many different techniques to allow for different learning styles. I find that I can effectively motivate my students and get them excited about math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored my way through 5 years of college. Most of that tutoring took place in drop-in learning centers at Blue Mountain Community College and Eastern Oregon University. In that time I have tutored every aspect of mathematics from remedial arithmetic to calculus and statistics, and won the 2009 EOU Award for Outstanding Academic Support. I have worked with high school teenagers while student-teaching in pursuit of a Master’s degree in education, but I learned that I am far more effective as a one-on-one troubleshooter than a classroom ringmaster.

I have 2 years experience in tutoring high-school and college-level math and computer science (programming and database design) while studying computer science in college from 1996-1998. During that time I also taught small classes in computer usage (email and internet) at the Kennewick Senior Center. I later earned a bachelor degree in math at Portland State University in 2004, participating in study groups there. As a graduate from University of Idaho, I was very much driven to reach a higher level of excellence in education, leadership, and support of my peers. I have earned a BS in Chemistry, which has allowed me to gain an understanding in many levels of science, not only how in how to learn but how to adapt those lessons for others. During the last eight years, throughout high school and college, I have tutored students in Engineering, psychology, mathematics, chemistry and biology.
