A Little Bit About Me...

I like to have a positive reinforcement teaching style.
I have a wide variety of experience, most of which comes from some sort of writing field. I was my high school newspaper editor, was my classes graduation speaker and am currently writing a book. I am also proficient in history, ranging from U.S. history, world history, politics, comparative government and more specifically war history. I am currently working on my nursing degree, having earned a certified nursing assistant license along with an emergency medical technician license. A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer to use the Socratic method when teaching. It allows me to interact with my students, giving them autonomy and a sense of worth. I am sensible to their ideas -no matter how far fetched they may be at times- and always supportive in their approaches. Also, I do not hesitate to incorporate technology in the classroom, as this medium has become a very popular and powerful instrument of teaching and learning over the years when properly applied. It is certainly true that, often, a picture is worth a thousand words. In summary, I would like to think that I am more of a facilitator to my students than anything else. A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored my way through 5 years of college. Most of that tutoring took place in drop-in learning centers at Blue Mountain Community College and Eastern Oregon University. In that time I have tutored every aspect of mathematics from remedial arithmetic to calculus and statistics, and won the 2009 EOU Award for Outstanding Academic Support. I have worked with high school teenagers while student-teaching in pursuit of a Master’s degree in education, but I learned that I am far more effective as a one-on-one troubleshooter than a classroom ringmaster.

As a graduate from University of Idaho, I was very much driven to reach a higher level of excellence in education, leadership, and support of my peers. I have earned a BS in Chemistry, which has allowed me to gain an understanding in many levels of science, not only how in how to learn but how to adapt those lessons for others.
