A Little Bit About Me...

After earning my B.S. degree in Food and Nutrition Science, I was able to experience the use of science and mathematics in basic research, government service, and private industry. With this practical application of the sciences and math I understand the need of a student to grasp the basic concepts and principles in order to build an intellectual foundation. This foundation allows the student to progress to the level of understanding that is needed for success. I also believe that incorporating the use of computers along with the scientific theories gives the student the ability to expand their knowledge.
As all students are individuals, the goal of the personal tutor is to detect what type of learning experience allows the individual student to best fulfill their potential. When the correct learning approach is found, the tutor can fully benefit the student. All students will res ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I greatly love teaching and anything that enables a child to feel proud about themselves in a positive manner. I believe that there is not one teaching style available to all students. I feel that to truly become an effective teaching, one must get to know each student individually to find out their likes and dislikes. I am an extremely patient person with a huge heart and love for children. I will do everything in my power to enable each child to succeed. I believe that children need to have fun at times in order to learn. I strive to give each child their own tool that is tailored to him/her in order to succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in hands on learning and demonstrations to learn scientific concepts. Mathematical work requires repetition and understanding of equations to obtain a concrete understanding of the material. I believe that every student has their own way to learn material and I design lessons to appeal to multiple types of people.
I am an MSUM graduate Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Earth Science Teaching. Throughout my college career to obtain my science teaching license, I have had multiple field experiences teaching classes and tutoring individual students in the field of science. My peers often turned to me for help in classes, because I was one of the top students in my classes with excellent social skills.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have one year of experience teaching children. This experience was teaching a nutrition and wellness program designed by Fargo Cass Public Health to elementary age children. I have a BS in Community Health Education, which has given me the skills to design, implement, and deliver many lessons on health-related topics. As an intern at the Alzheimer's Association, I was able to teach professionals and the community about the disease. I also possess excellent grammar and reading skills as the result of writing many research papers. Currently, I help people with disabilities find employment. This allows me to practice my writing skills on a daily basis as I compose notes on the service I provide to my clients. I also teach them skills such as resume writing, how to talk to employers, and how to improve typing speed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I beleive that all students have a unique learning style, and that a good teacher can figure out how to reach a student. If a student does not understand a subject or concept, I employ different methods (visual, hands-on, abstract, manipulatives) etc. I am extremly patient, and don't believe that students are smart or dumb, I believe all students can learn equally well,if their strengths are tapped.
I have homeschooled my son, who has ADHD and doesn't take medication, from Kindergarted to 6th grade. He is now in school and is a virtually an A student. I can teach just about any subject, even subjects I do not have an education in, for example, the last two years, my son had a desire to learn Latin, so I taught him Latin as I learned it myself. I really enjoy awakening a child's passion for reading and writing. I enjoy teaching kids who are have different learning styles.

With the right teacher who has the right attitude towards teaching, any student can be taught anything. The best types of teachers are the ones who make a subject, as Einstein might say " as simple as possible, but not simpler." They are the kind of teachers that can motivate a student to want to improve themselves. I think I am that kind of tutor. I am the kind of person who likes to take a step by step approach to solving mathematical problems with students. If a student is stuck on a concept, I like to ask them questions that allow the student to think. Thereby I simply don't give the answer. I am patient, considerate and hard working. I try to instill in students an ability to not fear making mistakes. Even the best mathematicians do. I strive to have kids love math, not hate it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the High School with advanced classes of mathematics and physics.I received a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor for Accounting/Bookkeeping from Tallinn Polytechnic University (Europe). In 2005, I completed my Master(MBA) from the University of North Dakota.I have had an experience of teaching economics at Estonian Business School. I also have been tutoring math high school/university level and home schooling my children for more than 4 years. Teaching is my passion; I have profound knowledge and strong formal background in math, great love, and enthusiasm for teaching mathematics.
Private tutoring is the kind of teaching I enjoy the best. Workings with one student at a time or with the smaller groups are advisable to maximize the benefits of tutoring.Usually, I take a uniquely common sense approach by listening students’ questions. Every kid is different in their own special way. You need different tactics per different kid. Being that I am patient and caring I know that it wouldn't take long for them to get comfortable with me and have me assist them. I believe that every good deed should be rewarded and if the student is doing well he shall be treated so, with a possible treat or even a pat on the back. I feel that if a child is told what they are doing right rather than what they are doing wrong they are more likely to have a positive outlook on what task they are trying to accomplish.
As a young college student I understand that my experience doesn't compare to those with degrees and much time doing it. But I know that being an older sister to younger brothers and sisters while helping them with homework and watching them grow up is a type of tutoring. My emphasis is in the lower grade, and Early Childhood---BUT enjoy grealy working with grade 4-6 as well. I have expensive patience when it comes to working with students who "need the extra help". I haven't had SPECIFIC tutoring experience but working with students one-on-one from a variety of grades have allowed great experiences. I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak. I can't force knowledge into someone's mind, it has to be learned, but I can help make that information real and relevant to provide the motivation to learn. I'm very attentive to affective factors (stress, irrelevance, animosity, etc.) that can impede learning, and I strive to provide a learning environment that will foster a love of learning and scholarship. I want to make a difference in the lives of our youth and provide them with the tools and opportunities to succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching. I have been doing this for 2 years. I tutored my classmates at my school. I am mostly interested tutoring Chemistry, Biology. I usually find many ways I could help a student understand better by giving them a simple and good example relating it to real life.
Be practical and give simple and understandable examples. I teach ways to understand the topic rather than just asking to study all day and night. I always relate studies with the practical life, making it interesting. I always advise a student how education is important to be a successful person in life and give lots of motivation.

A Little Bit About Me...

I try to utilize many different styles of teaching methods as everybody learns information differently. I believe that one will learn more quickly if they are able to do the task themselves rather then watch the task be done. I also believe that we all learn through our own mistakes much faster then trying to learn from anothers mistake.
When I began my college education I declared pre-med as my course of study. Unfortunately, since I had to work to put myself through school, I became burned out my the countless hours of work. When I was no longer having fun in school, I decided to switch majors and declared History. History can be very interesting coursework and also allowed flexibility in further education if I decided to persure more higher education.
