Derek instructs, mentors, teaches, and tutors using the Socratic method used by his undergraduate and graduate professors. He combines that approach with his strong academic background to challenge, motivate, and guide students to success. Derek's strong academic background and success includes an MBA from a top-ranked business school and a BSEE from a top-ranked engineering program. He meets in person on campus, at local libraries, in local establishments like Starbucks and Panera, and at students' residences. During in-person sessions, he shares notes and solutions of material discussed. When meeting online, Derek uses Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. He incorporates a collaborative electronic whiteboard from Ziteboard. After completion of the online session, he shares a PDF of the notes created during the session. With the student's and parents' permission, Derek will record the session and make the recording available upon request should a student need to review the discussions to clarify the notes.
