Experience Summary
My interest in numbers and abstract, critical thinking has prompted me to study math at Pensacola State College. I graduated high school summa cum laude with honors in the subject. I was also a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the national math honor society. What I hope to achieve by tutoring is to build students' appreciation for numbers and to help them gain confidence.
I am also a violinist and have played the instrument for over ten years. I have experience playing for weddings and church services ever since high school and have performed as a soloist on many occasions. Being a part of the Escambia County Youth Orchestra and All-County Orchestra and performing at the professional level have taught me the importance of intensive practice, preparation, and being punctual.
Teaching Style
When working with math students, I take easy and manageable step-by-step approaches. During sessions, I believe that it is important to work out problems together as well as making sure that a student can solve a problem without my assistance.
My classical training on the violin focuses a great deal on technique, intonation, and theory. I stress the importance of warm-ups and scales to improve a student's tone and shifting techniques.
