Experience Summary
My first job right after turning 16 was working as a photographer and journalist for the local newspaper in my hometown. My main job was working with the teen section; GeneratioNext asking questions, taking polls, and writing articles that were teen related to teen issues, college and continuing education, and career goals. Throughout my junior high school and high school years I worked closely with the editor of the school newspaper as a writer, and with the yearbook committee taking classes in journalism and photography. When I started pursuing my associates while enrolled at San Antonio College I took photography classes more for recreation and to hone my hobby and appreciation for photos, editing, and working behind the camera. During my time at International Academy of Design & Technology I have written and submitted several articles to the school based student magazine distributed throughout the IADT campuses across the nation. On my downtime if I am not sketching I'm usually writing for fun, blogging or writing reviews about restaurants in the San Antonio area.
Top Subjects
Composition
My experience in English Composition includes focusing on writing in ways to help the writer communicate more fluently, express ideas more convincingly, and think more critically.
Creative Writing
Proficiency: Expert, and one of my top Subjects!
Creative Writing allows me to put my ideas and thoughts on paper to allow me to go back and improve on my ideas in poetry, journalism, blogging, and fashion photography. I am most passionate about Creative Writing because it helps improve writing skills, creativity, vocabulary, pronunciation and thought process.
Grammar
Grammar is the foundation of our ability to express ourselves. The more we're aware of how it works, the more we can monitor the meaning and effectiveness of the way we and others use language. It can assist in precision, detect ambiguity, and exploit the richness of expression available in the English language.
Journalism
My first job was writing for the local newspaper as a journalist and photographer for the local newspaper in my hometown of Santa Fe. A lot of what I did for The Santa Fe New Mexican I use on a regular basis to improve on my writing style, my skills, grammar and creativity to allow the reader to become aware of what they're reading.
Poetry
Many of my works of poetry have been published in national publications and well as being used for public use such as The Whitney Project, greeting cards, and postcards.
Reading
I am passionate about reading just as I am with Creative Writing and proper pronunciation perhaps because I believe reading allows a person to become fully aware of the word, the root and the origin of the word and how to use the word correctly. I am a constant reader.
Reading Comprehension
Reading Comprehension allows the reader to become aware and to understand what they're reading allowing them to draw conclusions and to understand what they just read.
Spelling
Working in Creative Writing, Journalism, and Reading allows a person to gain the ability to recognize spelling errors as well as to sharpen ones mind to spell words correctly and freely without error.
Writing
Writing is a way to sit down and speak freely via pen and paper to express feeling, emotion, and communication to reconcile ideas, feelings, and actions at that point in time.
