Experience Summary
Hello! I am currently a senior at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and am going into Elementary Education, specializing in science and language arts. I am here to help your child become stronger in every subject they encounter and to help them become more confident. Having gone through the elementary stages myself I can understand how frustrating some subjects can be and that is why I like to teach with a constructive but relaxed style so the child can get better at the troubling subject but also have fun doing so! I have had experience working with children from ages 5-15 as a camp counselor so patience and understanding are part of who I am! I like to teach in a way that is developed for each student individually and is adjusted to their needs and how they learn best. I also come prepared with my own set of learning tools/worksheets so they may have more practice outside of school.
Teaching Style
I like to teach in whatever way best fits the students. I believe using many different methods is the best way to teach because it helps the student see the lesson in many different ways. Some lessons are best taught with hands on activities where the student can see what is happening and this tends to work best in math and science. In other areas such as reading and writing, using books and creative writing techniques can help strengthen the skills needed. When I teach I make sure to vary up the techniques used because it helps keep the interest of the student and reinforces several different ways a problem can be done.
