Experience Summary
I obtained my Master's Degree with the intent to teach. I did teach for 3 years at a small Junior College, then moved into industry. However, even while I was working in industry, I tutored several students over the years. Several of my previous students have gone on to Pharmacy School, three have acquired their PharmD degrees. Another student has just completed her Physician's Assistant program at a very competitive institution. Chapter 31 VA Voc-Rehab Provider.
I have tutored students from age 10 to age 60+, in a variety of levels of Math and Chemistry.
Teaching Style
I believe I have a talent to find the "disconnect" in where a student is missing the concept and help them to understand it through a variety of examples and analogies. I like to work with students face-to-face, but online is great, too! With online tutoring, nobody has to drive and the appointment times and session lengths can be a lot more flexible. It's easy to do and doesn't require any special hardware or software!
Top Subjects
Chemistry
Proficiency: Expert, and one of my top Subjects!
This is a difficult subject for many students, especially if they are not strong in math. I have always enjoyed helping people to understand these beginning concepts in a way that they can remember them and use them as they progress to other classes! M.S. in Chemistry plus 3 years Junior College teaching experience and 15 years of tutoring experience.
Organic Chemistry
Proficiency: Expert, and one of my top Subjects!
Orgo can really throw people for a loop if they don't understand why the reactions are working the way that they do. I help my students really understand the reactions, not just memorize them. Most students who are having trouble with Orgo 2 didn't really learn their Orgo 1 basic concepts.
PCAT
Proficiency: Experienced, and one of my top Subjects!
I have helped several people make it into Pharmacy School - you could be next! I can help you with the Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Algebra portions of the test.
