Profile Details
Experience Summary
I have been tutoring elementary students for over 12 years now in all subjects areas and have had great success helping them excel in school. In addition to tutoring elementary students, I have had experience as a classroom teacher, reading interventionist, and special needs instructor. I offer services during the school year and excellent summer programs for elementary and middle school students. My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Child Psychology and Elementary Education; a Master's Degree in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum; a Master's Degree in Elementary Teaching with Literacy Focus; a Master's Degree in Special Education; a Certificate for Reading Specialist; and a Certificate in School Interventions (RTI).
I truly enjoy working with students and helping them find a passion for learning and doing well in school. In addition to my education and experience, I am a professional member of both the International Reading Association (IRA) and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and am always up-to-date on the best methods of teaching children. Primarily I work with elementary and early childhood (preschool/prekindergarten) students, but I have also worked with older kids in middle and high school in subjects like math, English, and test preparation.

Teaching Style
My teaching style and approach varies depending on the needs of the learner. I try to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the child and base my approach to instruction on that. Each lesson is specially tailored to meet the needs of the individual student so he/she can succeed in school. Generally, I am able to provide the materials for the tutoring session, but I also help students with homework and other school related tasks. I try to make the tutoring sessions engaging and interesting for the students so that they will want to continue their quest for knowledge.
My Hobbies
Biking, walking, swimming, vacationing, going on outings, and wine tasting.
