Experience Summary
In Brazil, I was teaching Portuguese to a group of Canadians and two German girls. I just needed to quit the lessons because of my Exchange Program in the US (2011). Many people are interested in learning Portuguese due the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016, both in Brazil. Also, they are hiring English teachers, since now Brazilians want to learn English to work in those games. It is a good opportunity if you want to go to Brazil.
Teaching Style
I am a very communicative person and I like to encourage students to talk too...even if you are shy.It doesn't matter if you have no idea of how and what to say, practicing is the best tool and Im here to help you. Since I know phonology and phonetics, I can help with the pronunciation. Basically, there are some techniques you can use to make your speaking sounds more natural. But I do it with examples you will never forget, so, it's a funny way to learn and it's not boring. Same thing about grammar. Of course people are afraid of it and honestly, Portuguese grammar is not easy, but I try to make it less "painful" by teaching the key points...and again, more and more practical examples.
My Hobbies
This is my second time in the US and I also have another international experience when I went to Holland and Germany last year for a month. I traveled around those countries by car...it was an amazing experience. I do like to travel.
